About Us
Vulcanus was established in 1984 by the Paul family.
We started as a supplier of steel semi-finished products for our regional customers. It soon became apparent that there was a growing demand for machined components and assemblies, which led us to invest in our first set of machinery.
As customer demand continued to rise, we continually expanded our production capacities. We enlarged our production facilities and brought on new team members. The increased need for machined welded assemblies prompted the formation of our welding department. This evolution, coupled with complex customer requirements and our growing manufacturing capabilities, led to the creation of our specialized mechanical engineering department focused on recycling and conveyor technology.
We are committed to continuing our legacy of success with the next generation.

Our history
FURTHER GROWTH IN THE DMG MORI FAMILY
In order to meet the increasing component requirements, an investment was made in a 5-axis simultaneous mill & turn center DMG DMF 300/8 FD.
LAYING THE FOUNDATION STONE FOR THE FUTURE
With Holger Kleiman joining Vulcanus-Stahl & Maschinenbau GmbH as a shareholder and managing director, the foundation was laid for the successful continuation of the company.
GROWTH IN THE DMG MORI FAMILY
With a DMG CTX beta 1250 TC turn & mill center, we have expanded our manufacturing options in turning and milling. By combining the main spindle, counter spindle and our own B-axis, we are able to manufacture complex components.
MODERNIZATION OF MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGY
With our FARO measuring arm, we can accurately measure parts on-site.
MODERNIZATION OF MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY
The DMG Mori family has now grown to 9 machines. With the purchase of the DMG MORI NLX2500SY/1250, we can offer complete machining with main and counter spindle for the first time.

EXPANSION OF THE DESIGN DEPARTMENT
By expanding our 3D design, we have prepared ourselves for increasingly complex components.
CERTIFICATION OF THE LARGE WELDING SUITABILITY CERTIFICATE
We received certification for large welding qualifications according to DIN 18800-7 for material grades up to S 960 QL.
STRONG GROWTH PHASES
In recent years, we experienced significant growth, expanding our team to 45 employees. This growth necessitated the construction of two new halls and a new social wing. The new facilities allowed us to increase our welding capacities to handle components weighing up to 10 tons. Our machining capabilities were also enhanced to accommodate these larger welded components.
ESTABLISHMENT OF THE WELDING DEPARTMENT
The increased demand for machined welded assemblies led to the creation of our welding department.
REBRADNING TO VULCANUS-STAHL & MASCHINENBAU GMBH
The renaming coincided with the expansion of our business areas. The production of assemblies and welding components contributed to further growth of the company. At this time, our team had grown to 25 employees.
BEGINNING OF IN-HOUSE PRODUCTION
We began manufacturing our own products and providing repair services for the mining industry in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The company Vulcanus-Stahl was established by the Paul family as Vulcanus-Stahl Handelsgesellschaft mbH.
